The mission of the Northside Church of Christ Preschool is to provide an early childhood learning program for ages 2–5 in a loving, Christian environment. We offer an age-appropriate, theme-based curriculum for each class and encourage learning through play.
But you must keep on believing the things you have been taught. You know they are true, for you know that you can trust those who have taught you. You know how, when you were a small child, you were taught the holy Scriptures; and it is these that make you wise to accept God’s salvation by trusting in Christ Jesus. (II Timothy 3:14–15)
Our Calendar and Hours
Northside Preschool operates Monday and Wednesday, 9 a.m.–1 p.m. We offer an optional Extended Care until 2:15 p.m.
Our Curriculum
Northside Preschool understands children learn from the world around them. Our curriculum is theme-based, encouraging the children to learn through play, socialization and hands-on activities. Incorporating Biblical truths into our curriculum, the children learn about God’s love and begin to understand those truths.
FUN FRIDAY
Fun Fridays are an extra day of fun with a special theme where we explore a subject together through play, craft, reading, science, and research! Open to preschool children ages 2–6, cost is $30/event, which is non-refundable due to the fact that we buy supplies and schedule teachers to work well in advance. Children only need to bring a lunch and a bottle of water.
Kristin Hickman
Preschool Director
Kristin began her role as Northside Preschool Director on June 1, 2022. Prior to becoming director, she taught the three-year-old class at Northside Preschool. Kristin has a B.S. in Nutritional Sciences from Texas A&M University, and a B.S. in Clinical Laboratory Sciences from The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. After working as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist, Kristin enjoyed staying home with her three children, and quickly fell in love with their Mother’s Day Out program in Dallas. She worked as a preschool teacher in the 2’s class until her husband’s job relocated them to Houston, and finally, San Antonio. Kristin and her husband, Brian, met through the Northside Youth Group as teens and are very happy that his job finally brought them back to San Antonio. They have three children, Addison, Hannah, and Cole. Kristin enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, traveling, and serving in the Children’s Ministry at Northside.
Kristin has a passion for making sure every child has the opportunity to grow, both educationally and spiritually, in a safe and Christ-centered environment. She enjoys collaborating with and supporting the amazing teachers at Northside Preschool, and works every day to ensure they get the support they need to teach, love, and guide the precious children in their care. Kristin’s ultimate goal is for each child to come to know that God loves them and has BIG plans for their lives, while at the same time giving them a strong foundation for a lifetime of learning!
